Tell us your sports and fitness background:
In high school and college I played club hockey. I did a semester of rowing also.
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it and how did it feel:
I need the accountability so this family format is the right fit. For the Baseline assessment, my head was in the trash can. At that point, I could only go up.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit (before/after):
Stronger, but most importantly, being a pilot you need to be in physical shape and it’s nice to say my blood work, now, is impeccable. Way to lower BP too.
What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected:
When I am gone for a trip, and the hotel gym just doesn’t cut it, I crave IHCF. My New Year’s Resolution is to drop in to more CrossFit gyms while traveling.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit/IHCF moments:
Moments happen all the time, here. I like it best when you’re cleaning up your weights and you hear the PR bell ring. Somebody’s day just got better. The sounds of success and a solid hi-five are well deserved!
Any advice for people just getting started:
As a traveling man, the process is slow for me. My schedule is very inconsistent. However, sticking to the process and finding avenues that work for your life. Sharing hotel workouts and outdoor adventures creates accountability.
What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of CrossFit:
Kids, traveling and exploring, hiking/camping, self defense. Funny question, if you asked me this question 1.5 years ago, I would have said Craft Beer Brewing. Not anymore.
