Favorite WOD:

Is this a trick question?  I don’t hate WODs with deadlifts, lunges, and kettlebells

Least Favorite WOD:

Not a fan of anything that requires overhead work (squat, jerk, snatch, press).  Working on getting better at them… sloooooowly.  Running is terrible as well

Tell us about your sports and fitness background:

I wasn’t really an athlete growing up (coordination does not run in my family).  I dabbled in long distance running after college, which was not a good idea, and then found kettlebells thanks to Chris and Jen

How did you first get exposed to CrossFit?  Take us back to your first WOD… what was it and how did it feel:

I had to look this one up.  My first official WOD was floor presses (5×5 E2MOM Heavy) and DB/KB Reverse Lunges (5×5 E2MOM Heavy).  I remember not loving the press because it’s one of my weaknesses, but I do (oddly enough) like lunges.  Like all workouts, I’m nervous when I start, loathe it during, and love it after

What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health, and fitness since starting CrossFit (before/after):

While I haven’t seen many visible changes in my body, I’ve become even more conscious of my food choices.  I don’t want to work as hard as we do in the gym and then throw it away when I go home.  I’m definitely stronger than I was back in September, which has been nice to see

What sort of changes in your life have you experienced out of taking on something like CrossFit that were totally unexpected:

I was skeptical about the whole CrossFit movement before joining, so I NEVER thought I’d actually enjoy the workouts and (sometimes) look forward to them.  I also never imagined that I’d gain so many new friends/teammates that make going to the gym fun.  Without the people we have here, my experience just wouldn’t be the same

Please share with us any favorite CrossFit/IHCF moments:

I really love that we always show up for each other.  Whether it’s a competition, a holiday/theme WOD, or a typical Tuesday, we are always there for each other.  There’s no shortage of cheering, motivating, or encouraging here.  No one is ever alone when it comes to our group and that’s a pretty special thing to witness

Any advice for people just getting started:

The beginning is always tough, so just keep coming.  Stay consistent and you’ll start to notice changes.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions either

What are your hobbies, interests, and/or talents outside of CrossFit:

I’m a compulsive organizer.  Is that a talent??  I also enjoy Husker football, sand volleyball, sporting events (in person), BBQs with friends, and my nieces, and nephew
