Swings Away – 151112

A couple of kettlebell snatches for ya!

These shorter WOD’s are good for working on skills.

You wonder why we warm up the way we do?  It’s not so I can make you guys tired before we get into the workout.  It’s so we can “grease the groove,” get things happening so you don’t have to think about it, and make it so engrained that you could teach it to someone else if need be.

…nobody will need to, so don’t worry there.

The order of operations for us as CrossFitters and as athletes is this:

  1. Mechanics
  2. Consistency
  3. Intensity

Many people (and I’m certainly guilty of this at more than one point in my life) is to jump straight to intensity and skip the first two (intensity could be speed, it could be weight, it could be density, it could be any number of things).

This becomes a problem because injuries can easily occur without addressing mechanics first and making sure you’re consistent, second.  Not to mention, breaking bad habits is WAY harder than starting the right way.

…I know everybody knows that…

So, if you’ve ever had the thought in your mind, “man, we do sooooo much before we do our strength/conditioning work,” now you know.

  1. Mechanics
  2. Consistency
  3. Intensity
