Wall Ball City – 151020

The plates are our friends!  And if they weren’t, we became friends…

It’s not quite “Karen,” but there is a reward if you’re willing to hang onto the medicine ball.

We talk about the 10 General Physical Skills and there’s always talk about having an 11th (having the mind to be able to “sit in the suck”).  Why?

It’s easy to talk yourself out of something, to say you can’t do it, to go ahead and drop down and scale something just because.  Now, this is not to say that if the quality of something is gone [or disappearing] that you should go ahead and keep going, no.  If quality is gone:  stop, reset, and fix it.

Instead, if the quality is still there, but you feel like:

  • It’s starting to get challenging
  • Muscles are starting to burn
  • The lungs are beginning to catch fire
  • That little voice in your head says to stop…

It’s ok.  It’s ok to feel like that.  It’s ok to have those thoughts.

Remember, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you.  It’s supposed to be challenging.

As much as we are supposed to challenge the body and improve each of the 10 General Physical Skills, we also train the mind.  Each workout, each time you step in here, gains you a little more mental strength.  Before you know it, you’ll be able to handle mental challenges just like you can handle physical challenges.

Stick with it!
